Ava Ruth Hines, 77, of Poolville, died Monday, January 19, 2009, in a local nursing facility. Born November 9, 1931 in Palo Pinto County, Texas, she was a resident of Parker County for most of her life. Ava was a 1949 graduate of Peaster High School, where she was on the basketball team. She enjoyed gardening, the Fort Worth Stock Show; never missing a show and most of all she enjoyed supporting her grandchildren in all their activities. Ava was a member of Poolville First Baptist Church.
Mrs. Hines was preceded in death by her husband, Odell Hines, in 2003. They would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in June of this year. Ava was also preceded in death by brothers, Aubrey Butler and Ben Joe Compton, and her grandson, Joe Currie.
She is survived by her daughter, Carla Hines Currie and husband, Harry; son, Jimmy Hines and wife, Dorothy; sisters, Edith Waller and Linda Grey; grandchildren, Bethany Murphy, Jessie Carnley, Allison Hines, Donna Currie, and Cade Hines; and great granddaughter, Kinley Murphy.
Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 21, 2009, at Poolville First Baptist Church, with Rev. Donald Dobbs officiating. Interment: Poolville Cemetery. Visitation: 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel.
