He would strike up a conversation with anyone, standing in line at Walmart or on the beach in Barbados, and tell you he loved you even though he just met you.

  Aubrey Lewis Ellyson passed away at the age of 86 in Mineral Wells, Texas. Aubrey was born in Junction City, Texas, in 1939.

  Aubrey was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Mary Ann (Shouse) Ellyson; his mother, Anna Marie (Hess) Ellyson; and his father, Richard Biser Ellyson.

  He is survived by the three children he raised with Mary: Teresa Darlene Mendez of Mineral Wells, Texas; James Henry Coddington IV and wife Kim of Weatherford, Texas; and Linda Ann Kirk and husband Calwin Kirk of Gibtown, Texas. He has nine grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.

  He was well loved by everyone in the community who knew him. He would strike up a conversation with anyone, standing in line at Walmart or on the beach in Barbados, and tell you he loved you even though he just met you. He was a friendly gentleman all the way around who was 86 and acted like he was 35.

  His passion was to be around his grandchildren and family. His greatest second passion was to go fishing. If he had his way, he would have passed on the side of the lake with a rod in his hand and a big catfish on the line. He was a longtime member of Shady Grove Baptist Church and had a real love of the people there.

  He will be interred at Center Point Church Cemetery next to the love of his life, “Mary.”

  A time of visitation for family and friends will begin at 9:00 a.m. and the funeral service at 10:00 a.m., both at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, located at 913 North Elm Street, Weatherford, Texas 76086, on Saturday, September 12, 2026.
