Wilma Jean Thomas, 84, of Weatherford, passed away early Friday, August 5, 2016, at Hilltop Park Nursing & Rehab in Weatherford, Texas.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 6 P.M., on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at the Aledo Church of Christ, 201 FM-1187 South, in Aledo, Texas. Visitation will be held from 5:30 until the time of the service, Tuesday, at the church building. Memorials may be made to either the Aledo church, the South Main Church of Christ in Weatherford or Faith Village Church of Christ in Wichita Falls. Burial will be private.
Wilma was born August 25, 1931, in Dill City, Oklahoma to Joel P. and Grace Clark. She graduated from Southeastern State College in May, 1953. On August 27, 1954, Wilma married James Thomas and together had two sons, Phil and David. She spent the early part of her marriage as a military wife while her husband served in the USAF, often far from home. Wilma worked as a City Clerk in Wichita Falls, Texas, and retired after 29 years of service, relocating to Weatherford in 1993. She had served as President of the Texas Municipal Clerks Assn. and held positions in other professional organizations. Most of all though, Wilma will be affectionately remembered as being a loving, dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Wilma is survived by her husband James of 62 years; sons, Phil (Sharon) Thomas and David (Jana) Thomas; grandchildren, Clint, Erica, Heather, Evan, and Ethan; and by 5 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Wilma was preceded in death by her brother, Joel Clark.
