Verna Lee Chilcutt Martin - Born 6/18/1932 and went to Heaven 7/15/2021

Verna graduated from Weatherford High School in 1950 and was a homemaker most of her life. She was a longtime member of Union Baptist Church of Springtown until joining North Side Baptist Church of Weatherford in 2000. In her younger years, she enjoying teaching and working with children. She and Bill enjoyed gardening for many years and always shared the fruits of their labor with many family and friends. After her husband Bill passed away, she was actively involved with the Homebound Ministry, Women Ministering to Women, Evergreen, and Foundation Singers. She was deeply burdened for those who didn't know her Jesus, and she would spend hours studying His Word every day. Each Sunday at North Side Baptist Church, you would find her in the place she loved serving--greeting everyone at the door as she distributed bulletins to people as they made their way into church. She loved playing Chicken Foot with "The Girls" every Saturday, and prior to the pandemic, she played with a group of sweet ladies on Game Day each week. She treasured time spent with her grandkids and had a special relationship with each of them.

Verna was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Billy Joe Martin, her sister Annie Ruth Plumlee, and her parents Edgar and Murl Beene Chilcutt.

She is survived by her sister, Murlene Baker of Victoria, TX, her brother, Tommy Chilcutt and wife Kim, her brother-in-law, Howard Plumlee and wife Paulette; her four children, Mike Martin and wife Debbie, Les Martin and wife Kathy, Diane Allen, Pam Mason and husband, Jim; nine grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made in Verna's memory to North Side Baptist Church - Building Fund, 910 N. Main St., Weatherford, TX 76086.
