Val Gerstenschlager

  American Airlines Captain Val Gerstenschlager (retired), age 72, of Weatherford, died Saturday, August 6, 2011 while surrounded by his family in Fort Worth, Texas.

  Survivors include his wife, MerryLynn; one son, Burke Gerstenschlager and wife, Michele Whitney of Brooklyn, New York; one daughter, Heidi Gerstenschlager Gresham and husband, Dustin, of Lubbock, Texas; one grandson, Benzing Cooper Gresham; one brother, Neal Gerstenschlager and wife, Diane of Wadsworth, Ohio; and numerous nieces, and nephews.

  Visitation is 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 10, 2011, at the Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel in Weatherford. A memorial service honoring his life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, August 11, 2011, at the same location before he is laid to rest in Wadsworth, Ohio.

  In lieu of flowers, Val’s favorite charities were the Salvation Army and the Happy Hill Farm Academy in Granbury.
