Val Gerstenschlager

American Airlines Captain Val Gerstenschlager (retired), age 72, of Weatherford, died Saturday, August 6, 2011 while surrounded by his family in Ft. Worth, Texas.

Survivors include his wife MerryLynn; one son, Burke Gerstenschlager and wife Michele Whitney of Brooklyn, NY; one daughter, Heidi Gerstenschlager Gresham and husband Dustin, of Lubbock, Texas;  one grandson, Benzing Cooper Gresham; one brother, Neal Gerstenschlager and wife Diane of Wadsworth, Ohio; and numerous nieces, and nephews.

Visitation is 7:00-9:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at the Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel in Weatherford. A memorial service honoring his life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, August 11, 2011 at the same location before he is laid to rest in Wadsworth, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, Val’s favorite charities were the Salvation Army and the Happy Hill Farm Academy in Granbury.
