Though he was born in Dallas, Troy grew up in Weatherford and attended Weatherford schools. He got involved in basketball and baseball as a Little League player, but his love was baseball. Although he played both sports in high school, he was given a scholarship to play baseball at Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, TX. After graduating from HSU, he became a teacher and baseball coach. He was the head baseball coach at Carlisle, Chico, Yorktown, Covington, Carrizo Springs, Edna, and Bloomington ISD’s. He also taught and coached at Altair-Rice Consolidated ISD, Quinlan-Ford and Jacksonville ISD. Besides baseball, he coached football, volleyball, and basketball at one time or another!! He retired from teaching and coaching in May of 2018 after 22 years. During his career, he touched the lives of many young men and women.
