Tommy Patrick Phillips, 84, of Joshua, Texas, died Friday, December 4, 2020, in Saint Joseph Hospital, Fort Worth, Texas. Tommy was born September 20, 1936, in Brock, Texas, in Parker County. He graduated from Fort Worth Technical High School and served in the Texas National Guard 1954-1958, Army Reserves 1958-1962. Memberships include 4-H Club, AHRA, IHRA and NHRA.
Tommy started working on cars at a very young age and became an excellent engine machinist and builder. He built several record holding drag racing engines, along with many dirt track class championship engines. He loved horses and collected all types of western items, also a passion studying everything about the American Cowboy.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Allen Phillips, and sister, Joanne Cooper.
He is survived by a brother, Sammy Phillips; nephews, Larry Love, Roger Phillips, Sammy Phillips, Jr., and Ronnie Phillips; and nieces, Sharon Cooper and Susan Cooper.
