Thayer "Pa" V. Welch

  Thayer “Pa” V. Welch, age 85, went to be with the Lord August 9, 2016. He was born the son of Virgil and Ina Lee Sharp Welch, December 5, 1930, in Weatherford. Thayer was a member at Center Point Baptist Church and was an avid sportsman. He was on Aledo’s first football team in 1946. Thayer was a custom home builder and cabinet maker, working alongside his son. 

  He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Margaret Stevens and Joedy Bell.

  Thayer is survived by his wife of 66 years, Janell Welch; children, Carl Welch, Patricia Meaders and husband, Dennis; grandchildren, Valerie Proctor and husband, Bryan, Dustin Meaders and wife, Bethany, Rachael McCune and husband, Billy, and Natalie Welch; great-grandchildren, Devon Koopman and wife, Halle, Allie McMurry, Brady McCune, Hannah McCune, Logan McCune, Avery Meaders, Brooke Meaders, Mason Martinez, Meghan McMurry, and Macie Rapp; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

  Visitation is scheduled from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, at Center Point Baptist Church, with burial following at Center Point Cemetery.
