Shirley Ann Morris

Shirley Ann Morris of Granbury passed away on Friday April 16, 2021, surrounded by her loving family.

Shirley was born September 18, 1939 to Dorothy Hill Varner in Hickory Hill, Illinois. She was one of four children, and had a very special bond with her younger sister Anna Davis of Benton, Illinois.

On January 14, 1961 Shirley married Hosea Allen Poole and had 3 daughters. Hosea passed away September of 1975.

Shirley remarried July 27, 1979 to Vernon Morris and they shared a blended family of 7, and moved to Granbury, Texas, where they resided for 43 years.

Shirley was well known for her command of a kitchen, and spent most of her life cooking for others. In 1997 she was named employee of the year at Windsor House in Weatherford, Texas, where she was the dietician and head cook for many years.

Shirley was a Mom first, and everything else second. Over her 81 years, many children called her Mom. She loved them all and was loved by all of them.

In addition to her mother and late first husband, Shirley was preceded by her husband Vernon Morris in March of 2021, as well as two step daughters, Wendy Rae Hensley in 2015 and Lisa Ann Morris in 2016.

She is survived by her children; Glenna Lynn Cline of Greenville, South Carolina, Beth Ann Collins and husband Jim of Weatherford, Heather Jolene Rackliff and husband Corey of Weatherford, Charles Vernon Morris and wife Heather of Granbury, Tina Lynn Smith and husband Brian of Granbury; grandchildren; Rusty, Joshua, Jon, BreAnn, Adam, Allen, Izyk, Micayla, Alix, Keith, Andy, Lora, and Mya; in addition to several great grand children; nieces and nephews that she loved so very much.

Per her wishes, Shirley will be taken to her home state of Illinois for her final resting place, where a private ceremony will be held by family at a later date.
