Sarah Ann Bruce

Sarah Ann Bruce was 54 years young when she passed away March 28, 2010, in the comfort of her home with her family in Weatherford, Texas after battling a heart condition and developing pneumonia. 

Sarah was born to Luther and Vivian Young, on April 18, 1955, in Lake Providence, Louisiana. Sarah worked as a cafeteria manager at Crockett Elementary School, where she treated all the children as her own. 

Sarah was a devoted mother and cherished her family and friends. She was a down-to-earth woman able to laugh and make light of any situation. She was always the life of the party and made her presence known every where she went. The loss of Sarah has left a giant hole in all of our hearts and she will be deeply missed by her family and all that knew her. 

The family would like to thank the WISD employees for their support and donation of time to Sarah during her illness. 

Sarah is survived by her daughter, Hannah Bruce; father, Luther Young; siblings, Connie Perkins and Vicky Vandenberg, all of Weatherford, Texas, Doug and Gail Young of Midland, Texas, and Marty Young of Hobbs, New Mexico; nieces and nephews, Chris Vandenberg, Mary Lowry, Kevin Vandenberg, Caria Kuhlenschmidt, Stephen Vandenberg, Tamisha Crawford, Luke Young, Tommy Young, and Shaina Covey. 

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 30th, at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel. Services will be Wednesday, March 31st, at 3:00 p.m., at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel.
