S.P. “Polk” Pair, 88, of Weatherford, died Saturday, September 2, 2006, in a local nursing facility. Born November 8, 1917 in Coleman County, Texas, he was a resident of Parker County for many years.
Polk was a retired machinist. He began work at General Dynamics July 19, 1949 and retired on January 1, 1974. He retired a second time on December 1, 1979, at age 62. He and wife, Lucille, married March 17, 1986. They enjoyed traveling together and joined the Honey Do Chapter of the Good Sam's Club in 1990.
Polk was preceded in death by a son, Tony in 1968 and wife, Nellie Lee Pair in 1986.
Funeral service: 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 6, 2006, in the Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, with Rev Donald Thompson and Rev. Tim Richards officiating. Interment: Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation: 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home.
Survivors: wife, Lucille; son, Jerry Pair and wife, Ivonne; four step children, Helen Evans, Lee Arvin Herron, Billy Herron, and George Herron; two grandsons, Robert and Tony Pair; 15 step grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren, and 23 step great great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
