Her entry fee was paid for her horse already; Ruth Ann Pate made her last run down the alley into the arms of a loving Lord January 18, 2014. Celebration of Ruth Ann’s life will be Friday, January 24, 2014 at 2 PM at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel in Weatherford, Texas.
Ruth Ann was born to Eugene and Grace Fuller in Fredericksburg, TX.  She graduated from high school in Harrison Arkansas in 1946 and attended college in Grand Prairie.  He mother sent her to dance and voice lessons, her daddy bought her a horse which, her mother said ruined her life.
Ruth Ann married and had a daughter Carolee, and four years later she gave birth to Sherry Lynn. Most weekends were spent rodeoing throughout the southwest where she made many lifelong friends, both girls learning to ride and compete at an early age.
Ruth Ann worked in positions that had to do with her love of animals. She was the outrider at Trinity Meadows Race Track for ten years. She was very adept at her job, and well respected by the horsemen. Ruth Ann was very knowledgeable about horses and often called upon for her opinion.
Ruth Ann was early member of the Texas Barrel Racing Association and a charter member of the Arkansas Barrel Racing Association and State champion in 1967 and 1968.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Joe Pate and daughter, Carolee.
She is survived by her daughter, Sherry Craddock of Weatherford; son-in-law, Ted Walker and two children, Amber Walker, and Jenna Byers and three great grandchildren all of Arkansas;  her loyal and ever present terrier Annie; numerous friends across the country; to know her was to love her and she never met a stranger.

The family would to thank all the staff of Alpha Omega Hospice for the kind and loving care she received, fulfilling her wish to stay home to the end.

Celebration of Ruth Ann’s life will be Friday, January 24, 2014 at 2 PM at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel.
