Ronald Lee Beckner

Ronald Lee Beckner, Sr., 72, of Weatherford, passed away at his home on January 20, 2020. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, 2:00 PM, January 22, 2020 at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel in Weatherford.

Ron was born on September 30, 1947 in Springfield, IL to Robert and Mary Beckner. He graduated Lanphier High School in 1965 then soon joined Springfield Auxiliary Police Department and became the Chief. He then joined the Sangamon County Sheriffs Department as a Correctional Officer. He retired as a lieutenant after 28 years, receiving the Medal of Honor, and 2 Medals of Valor; as well as many other awards and certificates. He was highly respected among his fellow officers and inmates. He was very passionate in golf, a huge fan of Star Trek, adored his family, friends, and his dog, Angel.

Ron is survived by his daughter, Susan Robbins and husband Todd, of Weatherford; son Ronald Beckner, Jr. and husband, Ryan of Fort Worth; sister, Donna Self, of Springfield, IL; 2 grandchildren, Rebekah and Pamdora; and 4 great-grandchildren, Issabelle, Kayden, Elena, and Fiona.
