Roberta Harding Bray

October 5, 1920 — May 19, 2010

Roberta Harding Bray, 89, beloved mother, grandmother, wife, teacher and friend to all who knew her, passed away May 19, 2010. Her passing was heaven’s gain. Roberta was born October 5, 1920 in Bowie, Texas. She graduated from Texas Wesleyan College in 1942 with a Bachelor of Science degree. She married the love of her life, Lem Bray December 21, 1942 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Lem and Roberta were the epitome of true teachers. They enjoyed 62 years of love and commitment raising a family. Roberta enjoyed a teaching career in Nocona, Bowie, Castleberry ISD and primarily the Fort Worth ISD. Her schools in Fort Worth included Castleberry Elementary, Crestwood Elementary, Burton Hill Elementary and Theodore Willis Elementary as well as Carswell Air Force Base in the Adult Basic Education Program. Roberta’s second career was her grandchildren. Her counsel, patience and love are carried forward. Our happiness is in what she left with us and passed on to others.
Roberta was preceded in death by her husband Lemuel J. Bray and daughter Bonnie Bray McVean and “special son” Bill Warren.
Survivors: Son George Bray, daughter-in-law Shryl Bray, granddaughters Jessica Harding Bray and Kelsey Bray Smith, “special sons” Andy Anderson, Keith Hamby and Johnny “Tex” Anderson.
Graveside: 3:00 p.m. Friday, March 21, 2010 in the Greenwood Cemetery in Fort Worth. Visitation: 7-8 p.m. Thursday, at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel. A special thanks to the staff of College Park Rehabilitation Center for their loving care, concern and treatment during the twilight of her life.
