Ralph D. Adcox

January 18, 1927 — February 7, 2023

Ralph D. Adcox “Fudgie”, age 96, passed away Tuesday, February 7, 2023, with family by his side. Ralph was born January 18, 1927, in Mineral Wells, Texas to Cleve and Florence Adcox. Ralph served in the United States Navy during World War II, in 1945. He was also a member of the National Guard, in 1948.


Ralph later worked at the historic Baker Hotel as a bellhop. Ralph worked for 11 years at the Mineral Wells Hosiery Mill. He then worked for an oil and tool company. Then in June of 1960 Ralph joined the Weatherford Police Department, he worked up through the ranks throughout the years and was appointed the Chief of Police position in 1972. In 1979 he stepped down to the Assistant Chief position. Ralph retired from his very successful police career in February of 1989. Ralph also worked 18 years as an Adult Advisor for the Weatherford City Youth Council. He was even a part time Marshal at the Squaw Creek Country Club Golf Course.


Ralph loved being with his family, he also loved summertime pool parties, cookouts at his home with friends and family, and the highlight of those get togethers was a good game of “42 Dominoes.”


Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, Cleveland and Florence Adcox; sisters, Billie Adcox, Margaret Adcox and Clara Hopkins; and brother, Robert Adcox. He was also preceded by his wife of 60 years, Lyne Adcox; father and mother-in-law, Roy and Ira Curtis; granddaughter, Cary Hardin; daughter, Lianna Hardin; and grandson “in law,” George Littrell.


Ralph is survived by his daughter, Laura Morgan and husband, Beau; daughter, Laura Glover; granddaughter, Claire Littrell; and grandson, Chad Hardin and wife, Cheryl Hardin. He is also survived by many great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and many, many friends.


The visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, February 12, 2023, at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, 913 N. Elm Street in Weatherford. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 13, 2023, at Curtis Cemetery in Weatherford.
