Patricia Nielsen

On Saturday, May 8, 2021, Patricia Nielsen passed away at the age of 87, surrounded by family and friends.
Patricia was born in Hutchinson, Kansas to Leonard and Reva Byron. She grew up in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and moved to Texas as a young woman. She attended Texas Tech University where she obtained her degree in Education. She taught Special Education for many years, primarily at Millsap Schools. After retiring from teaching, Pat spent her time helping care for elderly family members, as well as volunteering in many different capacities. She drove cancer patients for treatments, gave away popcorn at the bank, and helped clients of Manna Storehouse, a donations organization dear to her heart. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Weatherford, involved with her circle group, the Keystone Class and United Methodist Women.
In her spare time, Pat loved to play bridge and lunch with friends. She loved and pampered her pets endlessly. In her younger years, she enjoyed many trips throughout the United States and internationally.
First and foremost, Pat was a dedicated and loving mother to her son Jim and her daughter Kathy. She especially loved keeping up with her grandchildren, Spencer and Shelby. She will be sorely missed by all.

Patricia is survived by her son, Jim Nielsen (Jan) of Forestburg, Texas; daughter, Kathy Mecklenborg (Neal) of Cincinnati, Ohio; and grandchildren, Spencer Nielsen and Shelby Mecklenborg.

A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church on Friday, June 4, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to Manna Storehouse or First United Methodist Church.
