Nellie (Nell) Ives Brown, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at home in Weatherford, Texas on Wednesday, February 20, 2019, just three days after the seventy-fourth anniversary of her marriage to Robert A. (Bob) Brown. Bob and Nell married during WWII in Houston, Texas, where Bob was training as a naval officer. Nell was born in Lipan, Texas, on November 30, 1927, to Freda and Butler Ives, and lived in the same community surrounded by family and friends until the needs of a country at war called her father to the shipyards in Houston.
Nell and Bob lived many years in Fort Worth and Austin, Texas while Bob worked for the Texas Highway Department. They were active in their church and loved spending time in Creede, Colorado. They retired in Weatherford, Texas near family.
Nell is survived by her daughter, Arlene Karnes and husband, Jerry; her daughter, Ellen Wilson and husband, John; and her brother, Charles Ives of Sherman, Texas; grandchildren, Byron, Leslie, Clay and Kyle; as well as five great-grandchildren.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date but the family is grateful for prayers and support and asks that in lieu of flowers that a donation be made to the Foster’s Home for Children, 1779 N Graham St, Stephenville, Texas 76401.
