Melba Jean Puryear

July 24, 1914 — April 7, 2016

Melba Jean Puryear, 101, passed away April 7, 2016, at Santa Fe Nursing and Rehab. She was born the daughter of George and Effie Seaberry Wilkins, July 24, 1914, in Parker County. Melba was a lifelong resident of Parker County and was member of South Main Church of Christ. She graduated from TCU with a Master’s of Education. Melba taught Biology at Weatherford High School for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, John Pope Puryear.
Survivors include two sons, Scott and Sheila Puryear and Don and Judy Puryear; grandchildren, Lori Crepps ,  Mark Cortez, Sara Ridenour and Jay Tidmore; great-grandchildren,  Jade,  Dylan,  Sophie, Mia and Jantzen; along with numerous nephews and friends.

Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 11 at Galbreaith-Pickard Funeral Chapel with burial following at Poolville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers family request donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
