Mary Frances Richards

Mary Frances Ritch Richards, of Weatherford, passed away June 14, 2016. She was born October 22, 1919 in Weatherford, the daughter of the late Everett and Gertrude Isbell Ritch, descendants of pioneer families. Mary attended Weatherford schools, Weatherford College, and undergraduate and graduate school at Texas State College for Women now Texas Women’s University (TWU) in Denton. She worked as an editor for All Church Press Newspaper in Ft. Worth, taught school at Arlington Heights High School, Ft. Worth, International School, Pecos and was Principal of the Aledo School, Aledo. Mary was Preceded in death by husband Clyde M. Richards.
She is survived by three children Claire Richards Byars of Weatherford, Carolyn Richards Towles (David) of Gladstone, Virginia, and William E. Richards (Sandy) of Downers Grove, Illinois; seven grandchildren, Commander Joseph Towles USN, Dr. Matthew Towles, Luke Towles, Michael Byars, Ryan Byars, Victoria Richards Maxwell, and Rebecca Richards; and twelve great -grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 18 at Galbreaith-Pickard Funeral Chapel with burial following at Dicey Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled from 6-8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
