Martin Joseph Danz, 84, passed peacefully from this life on Wednesday, December 14, 2022. He was born August 5, 1938, in Union, New Jersey to Martin Carl Danz and Lillian Marcie (Moehler) Danz. Graduating from Union High School, Marty enlisted in the military and served his country proudly in the United States Navy, after which time he married the love of his life, Carol; together they raised four sons and enjoyed watching their family grow. Following Marty's military career, he worked for the U.S. Geological Survey, studying the landscape of the United States, its natural resources, and the natural hazards that threaten it. After many years of service, he and Carol retired to Godley, Texas, and then to Weatherford.

An avid outdoorsman, Marty loved fishing and being outdoors with his family and friends. Being "Poppy" to their grandchildren was especially important to him. They made many endearing memories of fishing and being around the water's edge. He also enjoyed playing the game of 42 with his family and friends. He had a knack for this trick-taking game of dominoes, often referred to as the "state game of Texas." Marty was a wonderful person to know and love. His intelligent, witty, outgoing personality will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Marty is survived by his four sons, Mark Danz of Weatherford, Texas, Craig Danz of Springfield, Vermont, Brian Danz of Aledo, Texas, and Douglas Danz of Arlington, Texas; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous family and friends.

Marty was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carol Danz.

A private service will be held for the family at a later date.
