Marion Lee Ward

Marion “Lee” Ward passed away Tuesday June 10, 2014.  Born May 22, 1934 in Delight Arkansas to Sidney and Bessie Ward; Lee was one of four children.  Lee served our country in the U.S. Navy before becoming an air traffic controller with the FAA.  Lee was one of the country’s top translators of Morse code or the silent code.  Lee was an avid Ham radio operator.  He traveled and broadcasted via Ham radio from the Great Wall in China as well as Easter Island.  He met Susie Walker, a teacher, on a blind date in McAlester OK and they married July 6, 1972.  Work and vacation took them to various places; Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Hurst TX, Vietnam and other places in the orient. 
Lee leaves behind his bride of over 40 years Susie; daughter Annie “Kathleen” Ashcraft and husband John; son Thomas Lee Ward and wife Michelle; grandchild Grayson Pleasant; sister Sue Bugg and husband Ronald; sister in law Rachel Smalling; brother Bobby Ward and wife Sharon as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  Lee was preceded in death by his parents and brother Jimmy Ward.


A graveside service will be Thursday June 12, 2014 at 9:00 a.m. at East Greenwood Cemetery in Weatherford.  In lieu of flowers please give to Cooks Children Hospital in Fort Worth or to the Disabled Veterans Society (www.dav.org).
