Margery Ruth Brinkley, 91, of Weatherford, passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2019, in Fort Worth.
Margery was born on October 20, 1927, in Fort Worth, to Mark and Josephine Vaughn Mahaffey.
Upon graduation from North Side High School, in Fort Worth, at age 16 she attended Southwest Texas State Teachers College, in San Marcos. After receiving a music scholarship she attended Texas State College for Women, in Denton from 1945-47.
Margery was baptized by Le Roy Brownlow, 1950, Polytechnic Church of Christ.
She married Harold L. Brinkley on September 4, 1948, at the home of Frank A. and Velma M. Brinkley, with Wanda S. Brinkley attending. Together they had three children. Margery enjoyed family, family events, painting, piano playing, loved teaching Sunday school, church fellowships, ladies Bible class, Sensational Senior Singers, playing domino 42, RV traveling with husband and friends, teaching in World Bible school for over 10 years, and living a Christian life.
Margery is survived by her children, Paula Brinkley Godi and Harold L. Brinkley Jr.; grandchildren, Ann Godi Moore and Cara Brinkley Goins (Michael); and great-grandchildren, Christian Godi, Samuel Hummel, Sean Goins, Zach Goins, and Abby Godi.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold L. Brinkley; grandson, James H. Godi (Jaime Bagwell); and son, Mark A. Brinkley (Nancy Lange).
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 17, at South Main Church of Christ, 201 South Main Street, in Weatherford. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens, 5600 Mineral Wells Hwy, west of Weatherford. Viewing will be 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Friday, at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, 913 N. Elm St., Weatherford.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Foster Home for Children, Stephenville or South Main Church of Christ, Benevolence, Weatherford.
