Louis Jr Lewelling

Louis Lewelling, 82, passed from this life February 20, 2016, after a long battle with heart disease. Louis Lewelling, Jr. was born July 14, 1933, in Cherokee County, TX, to Louis Lewelling, Sr. and Josie Lee Cox Lewelling. The Lewelling family moved to Weatherford in 1937. He graduated from Weatherford High School in 1951, and attended Texas Christian University two years. His wife of 57 years who passed away in 2012, Joyce, had known him since early childhood. They were neighbors and childhood sweethearts and were married at Fort Smith, Arkansas while Louis was in the army. He served Two years in Korea. After returning home, he resumed his 41 year career at Lockheed Martin as a Material Release Analysist, advancing to Buyer, Technical Editor, Senior Logistics Engineer, and finally retiring as a Logistics Management System Specialist on November 1, 1993. Louis and Joyce also ranched for over 50 years in the Spring Creek Community. Like his parents, Louis loved the land, and delighted to see things grow. Louis lived for his God, his country, and his family. Louis dedicated over 50 years of service, 34 years as an elder, to the church at Weatherford. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Sr. and Josie Cox Lewelling, sister, Doris Mattar and his wife, Joyce. Survivors: Son, Tim Lewelling and wife Peggy of Weatherford; grandchildren, Trey Lewelling and wife Kara of Weatherford, Alison Kate Regian and husband Zach of Frisco and Braden Louis Lewelling of Weatherford;great grandchildren, Kase and Tripp Lewelling; sister, Bernice Maddox and husband Henry also of Weatherford.



Funeral Service: 1 p.m, Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at Galbreaith Pickard with interment in Spring Creek Cemetery.  Memorials: Those who, in mediation, can associate the remembrance of Louis with the scriptural true church identified in the bible will have contributed the greatest memorial anyone could ever offer.
