Lorna Faye Walker

September 17, 1920 — May 27, 2008

Lorna Faye Walker, 87, of Granbury, died Tuesday, May 27, 2008, in a   Weatherford nursing center. She was born September 17, 1920, in Antlers, Oklahoma to Lorne and Lillian Lickey. Lorna was married to Robert J. Walker for 54 years.  They were avid Texas Tech fans and together started an athletic scholarship fund in honor of their daughter, Debra Lynn, who preceded them in  death. She and her husband initiated Meals On Wheels in Lubbock where they served for many years. Lorna was active with family and friends in Lubbock until she and her husband retired to Kerrville where she lived until his   death at which time she moved to Wichita Falls to live with her sister.  Her daughter, Lana, was blessed when she moved to Weatherford In 2001. She was a member of All Saint’s Episcopal Church, and Parker County Women’s Club, enjoyed playing bridge and made many friends.  Lorna started a bible study at Alterra Sterling House, volunteered with Alzheimer patients at Windsor house and received Volunteer of the Year award from the Parker County Senior Center.   n 2006 she retired to the Estates on Lake Granbury making many friends before starting her battle with cancer.  Her son, Bobby Joe Walker and sister, Doris McClure also precede her in death.   She is survived by her daughter; Lana Kay and husband, Father Scott Wilson,  daughter; Cherre Donne Cain and husband Russell, grandchildren, Robert Swift, Steven Swift, Kelle Wortham, Kamme Jons, Jo Anne Douglass, Mike Walker, Dean Walker, John Wilson and Mary Wilson and 16 great grandchildren. 

Funeral service: 10:00 am Friday at the All Saints Episcopal Church.

Interment will be at 3:00 pm in the Kerens Cemetery.

Visitation: 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Thursday and 8:30 to 9:00 a.m. Friday at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel.
