Lola Presley Burke

September 13, 1934 — March 16, 2016

Lola Presley Burke (formerly Lola Woods of Sabinal) passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at Weatherford Regional Medical Center in Weatherford, Texas with her family by her side.
Lola Vae was born on September 13, 1934, to Delma and Joseph Presley, in Golden, Mississippi and was the fourth of seven children. She loved to recollect “cotton-pickin” days with her siblings and the kinship she shared with the late Elvis Presley, whose grandfather was the brother of Joseph, Lola’s father.  Lola was loved by many and considered the life of the party wherever she went whether with friends, family, or at work in her life-long career of waitressing.  Many folks remember Lola as the friendly face and careful attendant at the local restaurant, most recently the Golden Corral in Weatherford, where she made mealtime a pleasant and satisfying experience for all and made sure that the other waitresses followed suit as well.  Lola was known for her cheerfulness, off-the-wall comments, and for “telling it like it was.”  She enjoyed crocheting and knitting and blessed the lives of others with her handiwork.  Lola spent her leisure time fishing, going to yard sales, and traveling around the country to visit her relatives.
Lola is survived by two daughters, Debbie Potter and husband Tom of Weatherford and Lola Kay Woods-Charlson and husband Eric of Elk River, Minnesota; sisters Bytha Mae Garrison of Paragould, Arkansas, Jetty Faye Dicks of Jacksonville, Florida, and Patsy Ruth Pressnall and husband Sonny of Zion, Illinois; eleven grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren.   She was preceded in death by her husband Jack Burke; son, Kenn Jackson, sister Vela Rae Davis; and brothers, Flavis and Grady Presley.

Services:  Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 11am at Galbreaith-Pickard Funeral Chapel in Weatherford.  Interment will be at a later date in Red Bay, Alabama.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that condolences be made to Lola’s burial fund at the funeral home.
