Lois Syvlinn Wootten

Lois Syvlinn Wootten, 86, of Weatherford, passed from this life on Wednesday, January 23, 2019, following a long, courageous, and optimistic fight against cancer.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at the Galbreaith-Pickard Funeral Chapel, 913 N. Elm Street, in Weatherford. Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the service, Wednesday afternoon, at the funeral home. Burial will be held at DFW National Cemetery at a later date.

Lois was born July 16, 1932 in Wichita Falls, Texas. She was the daughter of Lois and Carmen Powell. Following a blind date, she married George Washington Wootten, Jr. on September 6, 1952 and together had two sons, Steve and Jack. Lois followed her husband around the world during his career in the USAF. A loving and devoted wife, Lois “did her best to keep her husband in line!” She was a long-time member and Eucharistic Minister at St. Stephens Catholic Church in Weatherford. Lois enjoyed sewing and quilting. Her creations have become treasured family heirlooms. Lois will be affectionately remembered as being a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her wonderful smile and loving personality made her a friend to whomever she met.

Lois is survived by her husband of 66 years, George Washington Wootten, Jr.; her sons, Steve and wife Yvonne Wootten and Jack and wife Leah; her grandsons, Devon and wife Nicole and Ian and wife Leah; and by her great-granddaughters, Skyler and Finley.
