Lois (Scherer) Jackson

Lois Scherer Jackson, met her Savior on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at the amazing age of 104, after a life well-lived. Lois was born June 23, 1919, in Weatherford, Texas to Louis V. Scherer and Georgia Lowry Scherer. She graduated from Weatherford High school in 1938 and married her beloved husband, Harlin Jackson, in 1943 while he was home on leave during WWII. They had 66 wonderful years together prior to his death in 2009. Throughout their married life, they lived in Fort Worth, where Lois was a homemaker and also worked for Sears & Roebuck. At age 92, Lois moved to Houston to be near her family and began a new life and forged many new friendships. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend to many.

Lois was a member of Ash Crescent Methodist Church, a charter member of St Matthew United Methodist, and a long-time member of University United Methodist Church all in Fort Worth. She was a faithful member of these churches throughout her lifetime and served the Lord in various capacities making life long friendships along the way. Lois was a tough competitor in 42 (dominoes) and enjoyed gardening, feeding the squirrels, and long walks with Harlin and their neighbors in their retirement years. She enjoyed traveling, especially to the mountains in Red River, N.M.

Throughout her life Lois gained much wisdom, and she generously shared her knowledge and love with others. She lived her life with grace, courage, and resilience and will be remembered for her kindness, gentle spirit, love of life, and the beautiful smile she shared with everyone. Lois was truly a treasure to many and these enduring qualities have left a lasting mark on our lives.

Lois is survived by her daughter, Sharron Schlomer and husband, Lee of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Ashley Braunz and husband, Michael, Kathleen Williams and husband, Nathan, and Daniel Schlomer; and numerous other loving nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A celebration of Lois’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 5, 2023, at Galbreaith Pickard Hilltop Chapel, 4941 I-20 Frontage Rd, Willow Park, Texas 76087.

A family interment will be held Saturday, August 5, at 9:00 a.m., at the Oakland Cemetery, Weatherford, Texas.
