Larry Melton Cobb

July 3, 1943 — February 2, 2022

Larry Melton Cobb age 78, from Weatherford, TX passed from this earth on February 2nd, 2022. He was born July 3, 1943 in Lampasas, TX to Reece and Doris Cobb. He graduated from Central High School in San Angelo, TX in 1961. Larry earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 1966, majoring in Electrical Engineering. He also proudly served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1964 to 1970. Larry married Barbara Cobb (Holcomb) on September 24, 1966 in Austin, TX. Together, they raised two daughters, Audra and Anissa, and a son, Adam. The family moved to Weatherford, TX in 1987. For over five decades Larry worked as an electrical engineer in a career that focused on designing and building long range antennas for both industry and military applications. He enjoyed woodworking and had a keen ability to design and build most anything. He was a voracious reader, loved puzzles, and was seldom the loser of any card or domino game he played. Larry was also a dedicated servant to those in need. He was active in the prison ministry and volunteered for the Jobs for Life program at the Center of Hope, where he served as a mentor to many. He also was very active in the Church of Christ. Among many roles, he served as an elder at the South Main Church of Christ for 15 years.

Larry is survived by his wife of 55 years, Barbara, his children, Anissa (Douglas) Cure and Adam Cobb, and grandchildren, Morgan (Jacob) Davis, Joel and Merritt Cure, as well as cousin, Paralyn (Don) Moore.

Larry was preceded in death by his mother, father, daughter (Audra), brother (Dewain Cobb), and niece (Chanel Cobb).

Larry will be especially remembered for his deep resonant voice, a wisdom guided by prayer and God’s word, and his genuine care and compassion for those in need.
