La Verne M Alexander

December 27, 1930 — August 30, 2015

LaVerne Alexander, 84, of Weatherford, passed away Sunday, August 30, 2015. LaVerne was born December 27, 1930 in Abilene, Texas to Robert and Mildred Ham Miller. She moved to Commerce, Texas as a young girl, where she was raised. LaVerne was a nurse at Campbell Memorial Hospital upon moving to Weatherford, then was Dr. Jack Eidson’s nurse until 1968, when she and her family moved to the North Richland Hills area. She later retired in 1991 as nurse for Dr. Michael Ditto’s office in Arlington. LaVerne was a founding member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. After moving to the metroplex, she became a member of North Richland Hills Baptist Church, and later became a member of First Baptist Church in Weatherford. She enjoyed reading, gardening, ceramics, arts and crafts, and mostly she loved spending time with her grandchildren. LaVerne regularly met with the Commerce High School Class of ‘48 Alumni Club. She has been involved with the Country Crossroads Club of Weatherford. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 66 years, Kenneth. Survivors: Sons, James “Jay” Alexander and wife Teresa of Euless and A. Duncan “Dee” Alexander and companion Lana Robinson of Weatherford; grandchildren, Bethany Ann Alexander, Sean Alexander and Cody Alexander; great grandson, Rohan Alexander who will always treasure the memories of her.

Memorial service: 11:00 am, Saturday, September 5, 2015 at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, with Rev Bob Jackson and Rev. Tommy Galik officiating   . In lieu of flowers, donations to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital are appreciated.
