Kathryn Lavelle Engel

Kathryn Lavelle Engel departed from this life on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at the age of 73. She was born on February 7, 1950, in Mineral Wells, Texas. Throughout Kathy's life she held several jobs she was passionate about, first for the Parker County Clerk, then Target for several years, but none compared to the position she loved most as a devoted homemaker to her husband, Tom, and their children and grandchildren.

Kathy possessed a love for people and for gardening. She was known for saying, "I tried reality and didn't like it!" and for always bringing a smile to the faces around her. Kathy was a gracious woman who always believed the best in people, offering encouragement and a smile without reservation. Her bright spirit and enjoyment for life will be missed by those who loved her dearly. Kathy would have told everyone, “Live simply, laugh often, and love deeply!”

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, James Farner and Mary (Baker) Farner.

Kathy is survived by her beloved husband of 51 years, Tom Engel; sons, Trever Engel and his darling, Christine, and Travis Engel and his wife, Misty; five beautiful grandchildren, Kaleb, Kallie, Madison, Caden, and Kasen; siblings, Chuck Morris and his wife, Martha, and Jimmy Farner and his wife, Melissa; and by a multitude of extended family members and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, 913 North Elm Street, Weatherford, Texas 76086, with visitation beginning two hours prior to the funeral service, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at East Greenwood Cemetery, Weatherford, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to CASA Hope for Children.
