Junior Herman (Bud) Riedel

Junior Herman "Bud" Riedel passed away at his home on the Tin Top Road, Saturday, 24 October 2015. He had fought a courageous battle with leukemia since April. Bud was born 27 February 1933 in Osmond, Pierce County, Nebraska. He was the oldest of seven children born to Herman and Ellen (Manske) Riedel. He graduated from Pierce High School in 1951. He entered the US Army in 1953. After a tour of Korea he was discharged from Fort Wolters, Texas in 1955, serving several more years in the reserves. While stationed at Fort Wolters he met Martha Louise Gandee and they married 23 September 1955 in Weatherford, Texas. To this union nine children were born of whom eight survive. Louise died 14 October 1976 in Weatherford, Texas.  Bud married Melba Gene Fowler 21 July 1978 in Weatherford, Texas. Bud always said that he and his children "adopted" Melba. Bud and Melba together raised his eight children. Bud worked for over 30 years for General Dynamics (now Lockheed) in the maintenance department, retiring in 1995. Bud and Melba traveled for several years in their motor home until health forced them to quit.  Bud was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter, Vicki Lynn, in 1956 in Nebraska and his first wife, Louise.  Bud is survived-by his wife, Melba, his children, Randy (Cindy), Cindy (Raymond) Garcia, Ricky, Sr, Danny (Sharron), Rodney (Leah), Steve (Leanne), Kenny, and Becky (Lance) Wiggs, all of Weatherford. Also surviving are Melba's children, Mike (Sue) West, Kathy (Randal) Howdeshell, Dale West and David West, 14 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Surviving siblings are, sisters, Barbara (Bill) Van Brocklin, Alvina (Junior) Deitloff, Charlene (Bob) Chervek and Darlene McDonald, brothers, Reuben (Donna), Ronald (Shari) all of Nebraska.  The family wishes to thank The Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders and their staff, especially Dr. Mary Skiba and Dr. Nicole Bartosh for their loving and tender care they gave to Bud.

Visitation will be 6-8 PM, Wednesday night 28 October 2015.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, 29 October 2015 at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel with Dr Alan J.Fires, officiating.
Interment will follow at Dicey Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Will Pope, Ricky Riedel Jr, Cole Riedel, Blaine Riedel, Nik Riedel, Austen Riedel, and Alton Wiggs.
