Judy Lois Galik

May 11, 1953 — May 12, 2018

Judy Lois Jones Galik was welcomed into the loving arms of the Lord on Saturday afternoon, May 12, 2018, one day after her 65th birthday. Her devoted husband, Tommy, with her sister Becky beside him, lovingly held her hand and gave Judy permission to go to heaven.
Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 10 A.M., on Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at North Side Baptist Church, 910 N. Main Street, in Weatherford. Interment will follow at East Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening, May 15, from 6 until 8 at the church.
Judy was born on May 11, 1953, in Weatherford, Texas to Orlyn Roy Jones and Jo Ann Hawkins Jones. Judy graduated from Weatherford High School in 1971and from the Campbell Memorial Hospital School of Nursing with a Licensed Vocational Nursing degree. Until her kidney transplant in April 2011, she was licensed to practice nursing in the state of Texas. She worked at Campbell Hospital for about two years and the Medical Arts Clinic for about 29 years.
Judy met her husband, Tommy Galik, at Greenwood Baptist Church in 1970 and began dating in 1971. They were married on April 14, 1973, while Tommy was attending Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. She believed God had called her to be a pastor’s wife or a missionary. Tommy and Judy were married 45 precious years.
Judy devoted her life to her Lord, family, and church. She loved the Lord with a deep devotion and ended each day with devotional time. Her faith in God was a simple trust in God without any analysis of the prayer concern. She loved all of us deeply but Jett and Jaityn had a special place in her heart. Judy was a GA Director until her kidney transplant in 2011. With the Lord’s help and the support of other leaders and teachers, Judy built a strong program wherever she served. She taught 1st grade Sunday School classes for most of the time although she taught other classes. Judy was a faithful member of First Baptist Church for many years and at North Side Baptist Church since February 2017, when Tommy became the Senior Adult Minister at the church.
Throughout all of the illnesses she faced, she never complained to her family or to God that life was unfair but faced every medical issue or circumstance with courage and faith. There was no reason to complain because she knew God was doing what he thought was best for her even if it meant more surgeries, treatments, or inconveniences.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Sharon Jones Nesby, and daughter-in-law, Amber Galik.
Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Tommy; son; Jason Thomas Galik; grandson: Jett Thomas Galik and granddaughter, and Jaityn Jo Marie Galik, all of Weatherford: Sister; Becky Elliott and husband, Dean of Weatherford; sister, Sandy Rhodes and husband, Lester of Rockingham, North Carolina, and brother, Billy Roy Jones and wife, Karin Jones of Weatherford, Texas; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
To remember Judy’s loving, kind, and thoughtful spirit of love for God, family, church, and others, a scholarship fund will be set up to help deserving nursing students who exemplify her life principles. In lieu of flowers, North Side Baptist Church will administer the funds received.
