Judy Carol Watson

July 3, 1941 — June 28, 2021

Judy Carol Watson, 79, of Weatherford, TX, passed away Monday, June 28, 2021, surrounded by loved ones.

Judy was born in Hamilton, TX, on July 3, 1941, to her loving parents Wilburn and Claudine Miller. She was the oldest of 4 children. Judy lost her mother at the young age of 9 and began her lifelong journey of loving and caring for her family and loved ones. She and Wilburn moved to the Boles Home in Quinlan, TX, where she learned many life skills. As a young adult she lived in Goldthwaite, TX, where she met W.T. McMurry Jr. on a blind date set up by friends. They went on to marry June 20, 1959 and had 3 children. Judy worked tirelessly to provide for her family, oftentimes working multiple jobs. She devoted herself to the lord and shared her love and knowledge of Christ with everyone. With 3 young children she returned to the Boles Home as a house parent and raised 16 more children. During this time, she met Mary (Kent) Marden who quickly became not only her best friend but family, as the 2 of them lived together and helped raise each other’s children. On February 14, 1988, Judy married Bobby D. Watson and they were married until his death on November 24, 1994.

She was an active member in several fraternal orders including Pythian Sisters, Eastern Star and Women of the Moose.

She was known as Granny by her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and held that title with honor. She was the true matriarch of the family; hosting family gatherings and holiday celebrations while showing off her amazing cooking skills, especially her famous mac and cheese.
In 1998 she began cooking for the Texas Pythian home and retired as kitchen manager in 2018. Judy was known for dancing in the kitchen and ready to enjoy a good cup of coffee. She was always showing love and kindness to her children and grandchildren but also lived by the quote “I will not tolerate rude behavior.”

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband; Bobby D. Watson, brother; Freddy Ray, sister; Elizabeth Ann, grandsons; Preston Wayne Watson and Jason Watson.

She is survived by her brother Wilburn and wife Zaneta Miller of Arlington, TX, daughters; Mitzi and husband Brad Davis of Weatherford, Tx, Lisa and husband Chris Watson of Weatherford, Tx, son; Gary and wife Angela McMurry of Brock Tx, grandchildren; Gary Lynn, Jessica, Ashley, Kristin, Meghan, Devon Ray, Macie, Allie, Kenzie and Devin, great-grandchildren; Caitlynn, Dalton, Preston, Stetson, Kinsley, Kara, Haley, Luke and Emery, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
