John Wayne Brock passed away peacefully surrounded by family on November 2, 2020. He was born on November 25, 1948 in Collin County, Texas. He was the eldest of 4, the epitome of a big brother, protective and bossy. Johnny graduated from Weatherford High School in 1967, and shortly after enlisted in the Army. He was the proud veteran of multiple tours in Vietnam. Johnny met Gerrilyn (Gerri) in Weatherford in 1981, where they made their home and raised a family together for 38 years. Their door was always open for family and friends to share a meal, a good (loud) western, and a cold one.

Johnny was a licensed electrician by trade but his hobby was woodworking. He made countless tables, lamps, and shelves for his home and as gifts for his family and friends. Gerri was an artist, and he personally made every frame for her artwork as beautiful as the artwork itself.

Johnny lived out his final days as he did his life, asking family and friends to stop by so he could give them a memento, money to buy their dinner, and shopping for gifts for all of his “babies” in the family. He was stubborn and tough, but always loving, generous, and kind.

Johnny was preceded in death by his parents Cliff and Marie Hamilton, and his wife Gerrilyn Brock. He was survived by children Dara Elverum (Jeff Allred), Kelly Elverum (Jody), Erin Bruton (Wayne), brother James Brock, sisters Linda Trice (Sterling), Lisha Tiffin, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends, and two very special pups Camo and Parjo.

Johnny will be interred at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery with military honors at a later date.
