John Scott Steed

John Scott Steed, 70, of Weatherford, passed from this life on Saturday, February 2, 2019, at his home.

A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at 1:00 P.M., Friday, February 8, 2019 at North Side Baptist Church, 910 N. Main Street, in Weatherford. Even in death, John continues to serve by lovingly donating his body for further medical research to the Willed Body Program at the UT Southwestern Medical School. Burial will be private at a later date.

John was born April 22, 1948 in Fort Worth, Texas. He was the adopted son of Etoille and John Moses Steed. John married Donna Matlock on July 13, 2002. A devout Christian, John was a long-time member of North Side Baptist Church where he served in the ‘Heaven’s Handy Men’ program. He was a former Mason. He retired after a long career as a Mechanic with the BNSF Railway. John enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, horses, and serving his Lord. He was an avid Texas Rangers Fan. Most of all, John will be remembered for his devotion to his family and being a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and friend.

John is survived by his wife, Donna; children, Joe Scott and wife Tammy Steed, John Christopher and wife Hannah Steed, Talton and wife Marie Campbell, Missy Phipps, and Lee Campbell; grandchildren, Colton and wife Amanda, Brandon and wife Lydiah, Cooper and wife Nicole, Joshua and wife Kate; Scout, Logan, Maddy, Adysson, Rocco, Natalie, Randa and husband Chance, and Ashley and husband Benji; his great-grandchildren, Cashton, Matthew, and JDale, by his sister, Patti and husband Bob Sloan; and by numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his sister, Billie “Butch” Zellman.
