John Murphy Warren

John Murphy Warren, 97, Beloved Husband, Dad, Grand Dad, Brother, and Friend passed from this life and “Entered His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise” Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 24, 2022. John was born February 9, 1925, in Dennis, Texas to Robert Warren and Hortense (Meador) Warren. John served in the U.S. Army during WWII, where he was awarded the “Purple Heart.” After the war John attended Sam Houston University, earning his degree in chemistry, and retired as a Chemist for General Dynamics. He had an adventurous spirit and after retirement, He and his wife, Charlotte enjoyed traveling in their RV and had a particular fondness for taking grandchildren to enjoy the outdoors, including his love for fishing. He was a member of North Side Baptist Church. John will be forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Left to cherish his legacy are his beloved wife, Charlotte Warren of Weatherford, Texas; children, John Edward Warren and wife, Ira of Marble Falls, Texas, Penny Gilmore and husband, Richard of Fort Worth, Texas, and Dana Simmons and husband, Adam of Weatherford, Texas; numerous grandchildren; great and great-great-grandchildren; and siblings, W.R. “Dugan” Warren of Weatherford, Texas and Rosemary Nicely of Weatherford, Texas.

John was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers; one sister; daughter, Vickie Plyler; stepson, Allen Sparks; and granddaughter, Angela Sparks.

A memorial service will be a private ceremony with only close family members scheduled at a later date.
