John Edward Allen

March 25, 1957 — January 26, 2009

John Edward Allen, 51, lost his courageous battle with cancer on Monday, January 26, 2009 and Jesus welcomed him with open arms to his eternal home in heaven.

John was born March 25, 1957 in Mineral Wells, Texas and graduated from Mineral Wells High School. He graduated from Weatherford College and went on to obtain his BA and MBA (1987) from Tarleton State University. He received his CPA in 1991 and CMA in 1995. He was employed by Perry Equipment Corporation in Mineral Wells for 28 years, where his current position was Treasurer. During his tenure he had the opportunity to travel to England, Italy, Canada, and Mexico. For many years, John taught Accounting night classes at Weatherford College.

John was married to the love of his life, Diane Martin, for 22 years. His children, Ashley, a senior at Baylor University, and Justin, a senior at Weatherford High School, were his pride and joy. Last year he fulfilled one of his dreams by going to the Masters with his life-long friend, Lin Bearden. He also shared a special time with his son, Justin, when they attended March Madness held in Dallas three years ago. John enjoyed family vacations to Colorado for snow skiing, Disney World, New York, and most recently a Caribbean cruise. He loved playing golf and proudly attended all of his children’s sporting, school, and church events. John was an active member of North Side Baptist Church for 22 years, taught Sunday School for both children and adults, and served as a deacon for the last 15 years. As a big University of Texas fan, he enjoyed attending Texas Longhorn football games. He was also a member and past officer of the Weatherford Optimist Club, and for many years he was a Junior League coach, referee and an umpire at numerous baseball and softball games.

He is survived by his loving wife, Diane Allen; daughter, Ashley Allen, and son, Justin Allen; his sister Diane Chenault and husband, Eddie of Mineral Wells; his brother Jimmy Allen and wife, Debe of Lubbock; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Oma Allen.
