Joanie Louise Rapkoch

September 23, 1949 — April 13, 2013

Joanie Louise Rapkoch, daughter of Rudolf A. and Agnes Cernosek Stanislav, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on April 13, 2013. Joanie, a native of West, Texas, was born September 23, 1949.
 
Joanie earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of North Texas in Elementary Education and a Master’s Degree in Arts from the University of Texas in San Antonio. Upon graduation, she entered the teaching profession. John and Joanie were married in 1983 in Colleyville, TX.  Shortly thereafter, they made Weatherford their home, and built a successful real estate business.  Joanie devoted much of her time to the Catholic faith, charities benefitting children, and other philanthropic pursuits. She was a devoted animal lover, including caring for their numerous dogs, and was an avid traveler.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Rudy Stanislav, twin sister, Mary Jane Lawley, daughter-by-marriage Christine Rapkoch, and her uncle, Ben Cernosek. She is survived by her husband, John T. Rapkoch; sons-by-marriage, John T. Rapkoch, Jr. of Weatherford and Michael and wife, Heather Rapkoch of Dallas; son, Clay Hale of Tulsa, OK; beloved grandchildren: Lindsey, Christopher and Parker Rapkoch; brothers, Leonard and wife, Betty Stanislav of Parker, Norbert and wife, Barbara Stanislav of Weatherford, and her aunt Edith Cernosek of West. She also has many adored nieces and nephews and cherished friends, including her childhood friend of 58 years, Monica May.
 
The family is asking for any donations to be made to Parker County PAWS, in lieu of sending flowers.
 
Services will be held Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 11:30AM at St. Stephens Catholic Church in Weatherford, TX.
