Jimmy Ray Melton

Jimmy Melton, 85, of Weatherford, TX, peacefully passed into the presence of Jesus while surrounded by family on June 12, 2017. He was born in O’Donnel, TX on March 15, 1932 to James A. Melton and Thelma (Kirkland) Melton. Jimmy lived in O’Donnel until he was 17. He then moved to Weatherford where he spent the rest of his life except for 3 years spent in Isfahan, Iran and 14 years after retirement in Carbon, TX. He was a purchasing agent in the aircraft industry for 50 years. Over the years he was an active member of Greenwood Baptist Church, Brock Baptist Church, and Carbon Community Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Barbara Young Melton; 2 sons Kelvin Melton & wife Paula and Eric Melton & wife Kathy; 2 daughters Brenna Lindley & husband Doug and Jill Allen & husband Paul. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents James A. Melton and Thelma (Kirkland) Melton, a daughter Elsie JoAn Melton, 1 brother and 2 sisters.
Services will be 9 AM, Friday, June 16th at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Weatherford, TX.
