Jimmie Dwayne Harris

Jimmie Dwayne Harris, passed away peacefully at age 80 on Thursday, May 19, 2022. JD was born August 12, 1941, in Tarrant County to Paul Richard and Eura Christian Harris. He was a barber when he met and married the love of his life, Georgia LaVerne Simmons. In 1969, JD decided to join the Fort Worth police academy and was a Fort Worth police officer for a number of years before taking a position with the DFW International Airport DPS. He took pride in his occupation, he displayed compassion and empathy and cared about those he was serving. He decided to retire after more than 30 total years of service in law enforcement. He loved to train and ride quarter horses in his leisure time. JD was a member of Crowley Church of Christ. He adored his family and friends and will be missed dearly by all who knew him. 

JD was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Shirley Samsill, an infant brother, Joe Clyde Harris, infant grandson, Micah Lynn Harris and his wife of 56 years, Georgia Harris.

JD is survived by his children, Russell Harris and wife Robin, Joe Harris and wife Ann Marie and Scott Harris and wife Sherry; brother, Paul Harris and wife Sue, grandchildren, Riley Harris, Hannah Harris, Zachary Harris, and Alyssa Harris.

Memorial Service - 10:00 am. Saturday, May 28, 2022, at the Oak Ridge Church Of Christ 4895 I-20 Service Road North, Willow Park, TX 76087.
