Jim E. Pauwels

December 21, 1941 — February 8, 2016

“I quit. Call the Father”  Jim’s last words –said with conviction and the courage to say ‘enough’ when the cup was full.  His “enough” stretched for 74 years from December 21, 1941to February 8, 2016 and encompassed a lifetime of love, pain, joy, grief, compassion, hard work, and hope.  A co-op student and Purdue graduate in Mechanical Engineering, Jim loved fixing, tinkering, and designing anything mechanical, and even two cycle engines, computers, and antique tractors bowed to his skill.  He loved and was a leader in scouting, served in India and Africa proudly with the Peace Corps, honed engineering skills in 20 years at General Dynamics, and found his second home and family for 20 years with Applied Systems Engineering, Fort Worth.  He gave of his time, energy, and love to those he met, took time for strangers, those in need, his Catholic community, and is already missed in this circle of life.  Integrity in all of life was important to him.  Jim is remembered and celebrated by his wife of 33 years, Anita, and mother-in-law, Dorothy, of the home; two brothers, Gerry and John (Sarah); sister, Mary Jo (Jim); his Aunt Joan; childhood friend, Tom; and by a host of beloved friends, co-workers, extended family, cousins, nephews, nieces, and ‘grands.’

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M, Friday, February 19, 2016, at St. Stephen’s Catholic Chapel, 211 South Main Street in downtown Weatherford with Fr. Balaji Boyalla (Father B) officiating.  Burial will follow at Memory Gardens in Weatherford.  The Rosary (Glorious Mystery) will be recited Thursday evening, February 18, at 5:00 with visitation following from 5:30 until 8:00 at the Galbreaith-Pickard Funeral Chapel, 913N. Elm Street, Weatherford.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Catholic Relief Services, the Salvation Army, or to a charity of your choice.
