Jesse J. Lawson, 75, of Granbury, TX died January 20th at Lake Granbury Medical Center. Jesse was born to J.J. and Ednah Lawson in Douglas, AZ. He graduated from Douglas High School and joined the United Stated Marine Corp. Upon completion of basic training, Jesse was sent to Viet Nam where he was stationed from 1964-1967. Jesse was honorably discharged from the Marine Corp in 1967 while achieving the rank of Corporal.
Jesse married his wife, Doris, in 1981 and they were married for 30 years before she succumbed to cancer in 2011.
He is survived by his daughter Kathy Moss and husband, Tracy of Glen Rose; son, Mike Hargis of Arlington; son-in-law, Clayton Strahan; daughter, Cheryl Morrow and husband Greg of Walnut Springs; and daughter, Dana Hargis of Meridian and son, Thomas Lawson of Arizona. Jesse is survived by 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren who were his pride & joy.
Jesse was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Doris; brother, David Lawson; sisters, Edna Mae Bates, Bertha Thompson, and Margie Aderholt and by daughter, Rhonda Strahan.
Jesse worked in the mining & construction industry for 40+ years. In addition Jesse also worked in the maintenance department at the Granbury I.S.D. for several years before retiring.
Jesse loved music and was active in a local band playing the bass guitar. Jesse and his bandmates played at numerous local venues. Jesse was also an extra during the filming of Urban Cowboy at Gilley’s Nightclub in Pasadena, Texas.
Jesse was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved spending time in nature.
Jesse loved his family very much and resided in Granbury so that he could be close to his children & grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.
