James Dixon, 80, of Aledo, passed away Monday, March 13, 2017 in Fort Worth. He was born July 23, 1936 to Sam and May Campbell Dixon in Weatherford.
He was a graduate of Aledo High School, class of '55. He was active in sports and had a great love of horses, owning many in his lifetime. James worked for Texas Motor Ford for 25 years. After retiring from that company he served as an aide on Special Ed buses for Aledo ISD. He had a soft spot in his heart for the special needs children who rode the bus with him each day. James will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Shirley Dyer; son-in-law, Jim Marcum; and great granddaughter, Kayleigh Boling.
James is survived by his wife and best friend, Kay Dixon; daughter, Debbie Marcum of Lipan; son, Brad Dixon of Weatherford; step-daughter, Debbie Hataway of Fort Worth; step-son, Kenneth Phillips of North Dakota; granddaughters, Tiffany Marcum and husband, Quincy, Taryn Hard and husband, Chris, and O'shea Boling and husband, Daniel; four great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 16 at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel in Weatherford. Memorial Service will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 17 at the Parker County Cowboy Church on FM 5 in Aledo.
