James Clark Donald

James Clark Donald, age 79, of Weatherford, TX, passed from this life to his Eternal Home on Monday, November 22, 2021, at Medical City of Weatherford hospital. Jim was born on September 19, 1942, in Des Moines, IA to Clark and Beatrice (Henson) Donald. His mother always told him she could see it snowing outside her hospital window on the day of his birth. After a bit of research, Jean found it was one of the earliest recorded snowfalls in history in the state of Iowa.

Jim's younger years were spent in Southern Iowa around the Promise City and Seymor, IA areas. When he was in the seventh grade, his family moved to Colo, IA where he attended and graduated from the Colo Community School. He returned there this past May for his 60th class reunion and so enjoyed seeing his old classmates and friends. After graduation, he joined the Army and was stationed at Fort Riley, KS. Upon earning an honorable discharge three years later, he went to work for several different building construction companies in the Ames, IA area. On July 14, 1968, he married Jean Andrew at the Little Brown Church in the Vail in Nashua, IA. They lived in Story City, IA. 1974 he started his own business, Donald Construction Company, where he built homes in the Story City area until retiring. In 2005, Jim and Jean moved to Weatherford, TX. He was a member of the North Side Baptist Church in Weatherford, TX and the Glory Sunday School class. He was part of the Volunteer Christian Builders and the NSBC Termite Crew and was very proud of the work they did. He loved hunting, fishing, model trains, and bowling. He belonged to the Skunk River Valley Archers and the American Legion. He really enjoyed playing cards with family members and friends. Most of all, he loved hearing about and seeing his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and the things they were doing. He was so very proud of all of them.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his grandparents, two sisters, Juanita and Joan Donald, and his older brother, Harold (Deke) Donald.

Left to cherish Jim's memory and legacy are his loving wife of 53 years, Jean Donald of Weatherford, TX; their four children and spouses: Candi (Kevin) Holm of Story City, IA; Lynn (Todd) Anderson of Mooresville, NC; James (Sondra) Donald of Ames, IA; and Shannan (Billy) Grove of Weatherford, TX; 12 grandchildren: and spouses: Stephani Holm of Grimes, IA; Staci (Loyal) Winborn of Jewel, IA; Jessica (Zach) Sukraw of Webster City, IA; Corey (Sharon) Anderson of Mooresville, NC; Christopher (Meghan) Anderson of Apex, NC; Kyle (Peyton) Anderson of Trinity, NC; Emily and Meghan Donald both of Ames, IA; PFC Blake, PFC Brandon, PFC Bryce (all Marines), and Samantha Grove of Weatherford, TX; 8 great-grandchildren: Evan and Xander Winborn; Jaxon and Emersyn Sukraw; Sophia and Mason Anderson; and Parker and Elliott Anderson; sisters and spouses: JoeAnn Frohardt of Queen Creek, AZ; Jan (Dick) Moon of Mesa, AZ; and Joyce Luing of Golden Valley, AZ; his brother, Jerry Donald of Mesa, AZ. He will be missed by numerous nieces and nephews as well as many friends. Jim expressed often how much he loved all of you.

Visitation will be held from 6 - 8 p.m. on Sunday, November 28, 2021, at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, 913 N. Elm Street, Weatherford, TX 76086. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 29, 2021, at North Side Baptist Church, 910 N. Main Street, Weatherford, TX 76086. Graveside services and interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at Colo Cemetery, 417 US-65, Colo, IA 50056.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Jim's memory to North Side Baptist Church Builders.
