James "Big Jim" Thornton

  James "Big Jim" Thornton, 77, died Sunday, August 20, 2006, in the local hospital. Born February 28, 1929, in Santo, Texas, he was a resident of Parker County for many years. Big Jim was a retired truck driver. 

  Mr. Thornton is survived be his wife, Sharon Thornton of Weatherford; daughters, Ebbie Wooten of Weatherford, Christine Williams of Weatherford, Tracy Simmons of Weatherford, and Sherry Murphy of Weatherford; son, George Thornton of Lipan; sister, Dorothy Simmons of Cisco; and 15 Grandchildren.

  Funeral service: Wednesday, August 23, 2006, at 10:00 a.m., in the Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel. Interment: Curtis Cemetery. Visitation: Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Parker County Senior Center.
