Jack Thomas Martin, aged 92, passed away on Tuesday, July 4, 2017, following a brief illness. He was born on September 7, 1924, in Liberal, Kansas. He served his country during World War II in the Navy. Jack was an engineer for a number of oil companies, ending his career with Mobil Oil. In his capacity as an engineer he traveled to many parts of the country and the world and was active in designing new systems for Mobil. Following his retirement, he moved to Weatherford with his beloved wife, Joyce Moore Martin. Jack and Joyce were a devoted couple until her passing in May 2013.
Jack leaves behind a son, Turf Martin and wife, JoAnn of Sedalia, Missouri; a granddaughter, Ashley Martin of St. Louis; a sister, Vivian Skidmore of Topeka, Kansas; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Sara Martin; brothers, Alvin Elmor (Dutch) and William Hoppes; and his parents, Earl and Pearl Martin.
Graveside services will be held for Jack Martin on Monday, July 10, 2017, at 3:30 p.m., at Greenwood Community Cemetery with the service conducted by his son, Reverend Mr. Turf Martin. Military honors and an escort by the Texas Patriot Guard will be provided in honor of his service to his country. The family requests memorials to the donor’s favorite charity to honor their father. Services are under the direction of Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel.
