Jack Alvin Richards passed away peacefully at home, Thursday March 27, 2014. Born September 13, 1929, to Andrew and Emma Richards, in Nolan, Texas; Jack was one of ten children and was also a twin, he grew up on a farm in the Sweetwater, Texas area. Jack was a War Veteran, he served our country in the Air Force in Korea.
In June of 1954, Jack married Mary Reynolds. Together they raised five children in the Weatherford area; Jack, being a Master Carpenter, worked in construction industry mostly in Texas as well as in other states. He built his own home here in Weatherford that all of his Grand Children refer to as "the house that Jack built."
Jack was a man of faith and was a member of the Jehovah’s Witness, just as his parents where.
Jack leaves behind his bride of over 60 years Mary; his children, Mike Richards and his wife, Darcy, Becky Myers and her husband, Hugh, Alan Richards and his wife, Shae, Kimberly Smith, and Carla Chandler and her husband, Robert; 12 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; sister, Peggy Heap; and brothers, Dave Richards, Bob Richards, and Gene Richards.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Myrtle Denton, Juanita Smith, Nancy Gandee, Curtis Richards, and Bill Richards.
A visitation will be Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A funeral service will be Thursday, April 3, 2014, at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, at 1:00 p.m., with interment at Memory Gardens, in Weatherford, Texas.
