Hoye Lavarh Smith

Hoye Lavarh Smith, 86, of Aledo died Tuesday, November 20, 2007 in a local nursing facility. Born October 22, 1921 in Longview, he was a resident of Parker County for many years. Hoye owned and operated Smitty’s Barber Shop in Plainview, Texas, was a member of First Baptist Church of Willow Park where he served as a Deacon. Hoye enjoyed woodworking, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Sylvia Smith of Aledo; daughters, Particia Avants and husband Marvin of Aledo, Kathleen James and husband Randall of Austin; sisters, Kemp Brasher of Camden, Ark.  and Quessie Jackson of Hereford, Texas; grandchildren, Greg Avants, Allison Dredla and Amanda Jackson; great grandchildren, Jared Avants, Ashley Avants and Taylor Dredla.  Graveside service: 2:30 PM, Friday, November 23, 2007 in the DFW National Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM, Thursday at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel.
