Gregory Scott Wasson

Gregory Scott Wasson unexpectedly passed from this life May 17, 2023, at his home in Humble, Texas. His heart that carried so much love for his family just gave out. Greg was born October 2, 1968, in Martinsburg, West Virginia and moved to Texas with his parents and sister at just a few months old.

Greg was preceded in death by his father, Glen Wasson; stepmother, Thelma Wasson; stepbrother, Tony Miller; and stepfather, Chuck Blanton.

Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Wanda; son, Matthew Harrod and wife, Allison; grandchildren, Addison Harrod and Cecil Harrod; mother, Garnette Blanton; sisters, Kim Slaughter and Mandy McNutt and husband, Bill; brother, Dustin Blanton and wife, Lori; special cousins, Timmy and Lisa Langley, Kevin and Jeanette Langley, and Roy Wasson; aunt, Mildred Langley; mother-in-law, Tommie Jennings; nieces, Christina Turner, Sarah Hoelewyn, Karyn Wall, and Alaura Price; nephews, Caleb Slaughter, Joshua Slaughter, and Brandon Prodoehl; and a host of family and friends.

Greg never met a stranger and he helped people without being asked. He always had a smile and a hug ready for whoever needed it. Greg had a positive presence and had the special gift of putting people at ease the minute he walked into a room. You couldn't be sad for long if you were around Greg.

Greg loved his extended family and was a vital part of the 3-day family reunions held every August at Lake Leon. He enjoyed cooking burgers for everybody. He especially enjoyed fishing with his grandkids and the horseshoe games with his son and cousins.

Greg was also an animal lover. Dogs and cats instinctively knew that and gravitated to him. His beloved Chocolate Lab Ginger was stationed at the door for days waiting for him to come home.

His memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel, 913 North Elm Street, Weatherford, Texas. Graveside services will be held at East Greenwood Cemetery, East Front Street, Weatherford, Texas, at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 31, 2023, with Pastor Rob Catuto officiating.
