Gerald Dean Springer, 85, passed away Saturday November 30, 2019. A graveside service will be held at 2 P.M. Saturday, December 7th in Oakland Cemetery. Gerald was born October 7, 1934 in Alabama but was a longtime resident of Weatherford. He attended Weatherford High School and later attended Weatherford Junior College and the University of Hawaii while stationed there with the U.S. Marines. Gerald began bodybuilding while in the Marine Corp and started designing and manufacturing state of the art fitness equipment shortly thereafter. He continued his bodybuilding career until the birth of his son in 1965 winning numerous titles including Mr. Texas. Gerald owned and operated approximately sixty health clubs throughout Texas during his lifetime. 

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents Leland and Era Springer, and his sisters Evelyn Connaway, Marilyn Ward and Carolyn Haggard. 

He is survived by his wife Freddie Ann, his son Christopher L. Springer and daughter-in-law Jeana Clarke of Fort Worth, Texas, his sister Rosalyn Irfan of Arlington, Texas, his brother Bruce Springer of Amelia, Virginia, his brother Gene Springer of Merida Mexico and many nephews and nieces.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Marine Corp League.
